Sydney Sweeney, remote doorbell camera helps apprehend burglar

Actress Sydney Sweeney reportedly assisted in the arrest of a burglary suspect.

Earlier this week, Sweeney's home security system alerted her that an unknown man was roaming her Los Angeles property, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

According to the magazine, actress Sweeney was “filming a Christy Martin biopic on the East Coast” at the time of the incident, and her remote doorbell camera was able to capture footage of the suspect entering a neighbor's home.

“According to sources, the suspect entered the neighbor's home, ransacked it, and then fled in the night with the merchandise,” the outlet reported, and the Anyone But You actress “alerted authorities to the situation at the home, allowing officers to respond to the neighbor's home and the area, resulting in the suspect being arrested.” She adds.

According to authorities who spoke to TMZ, the suspect has been charged with felony burglary.

This is not the first time Sweeney has felt her privacy was violated in a cross-country encounter with a burglary suspect; in an earlier interview with Glamour magazine, Sweeney opened up about media looting, which she said amounted to “stalking.”

During the interview, she recalled an incident in which a group of photographers had camped out in front of her Florida home.

“They said, ‘Tell you to come outside in your bikini and we'll take your picture and then we'll leave you alone,’” she told the outlet at the time.

“Why should I call the paparazzi to take pictures in my own house when my baby cousin and his family are there and in my backyard? 'There are pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in the bushes on the ocean. I should feel comfortable and safe in my own home."

The actress further said that the issue is not only about privacy but also about safety when it comes to photographers and the press tracking her, including when she is at her private residence or with her family.

“When those pictures get out, my actual safety is at risk,” Sweeney explained at the time. 'Everyone knows where I am. When a boat goes by, they hear, 'That's Sidney Sweeney's house. ' They do their star tours in my front yard.”

Thankfully, no one was injured in this most recent incident.
