Meghan Markle Offers to 'Help' 'Suits' Co-Stars Reboot Podcast
Before joining the royal family and becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was best known for her work on the super-popular legal series Suits. Meghan plays paralegal-turned-lawyer Rachel Zane, who develops a romantic interest in her mysterious colleague Mike (Patrick J. Adams).
Although Meghan has since left her acting career, she is still interested in new projects her former co-stars are working on. For example, when the Duchess of Sussex learned that Adams and Sara Rafferty, who played Donna, the legal secretary on the series, were starting a “Suits” rerun podcast, she reached out.
On October 6, in response to a question on Reddit, Adams revealed (via People) whether she still talks to Princess Meghan, saying, “We don't really keep in touch. She leads a very different life now, for obvious and important reasons,” he wrote. He continued, “[But] when I heard about the podcast, I got a nice text.” I asked how excited she was for us and how she could help.”
He also said of Meghan, “It's lovely to still have that kind of support and friendship after so many years apart.”
Adams reflected on playing opposite the Duchess of Sussex in the second episode of his new podcast, Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast. Mike, who previously revealed that he filmed a failed pilot with Princess Meghan, talked about what it was like to be reunited with her in Suits.
“I think just knowing each other and being able to stay calm and not be nervous really helped us read the chemistry,” Adams explained (via Tatler).
“When we walked into that room, we were at ease.”
The actor also said he thought Megan was the only person who could play Rachel Zane. He told the podcast, “And from the moment we did the chemistry reading, it was clear she was going to get the part.” 'It was much easier than anyone else's. She played it brilliantly, and she played it brilliantly in the show.”
