Why King Charles Receives Complaints About Rats, Overflowing Trash, and Terrible Odors

King Charles has many responsibilities as monarch of the United Kingdom, some of which may be unexpected. One of the most surprising issues the King is reportedly dealing with concerns the so-called “ideal” town of Poundbury.

Poundbury, in Dorset, was built according to the “principles of architecture and town planning” detailed in the King's book, A Vision of Britain. The town was built on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, which was originally owned and run by Charles and passed to Prince William after the Queen's death.

Unfortunately, the town's residents are unhappy with the problems that have recently arisen in Poundbury.

“There are rats everywhere and the smell is awful,” one resident told The Telegraph. 'Nobody seems to care.'

Somehow, in one area of town, people's trash cans are apparently not being collected regularly, causing extra concern because they are overflowing with garbage.

According to the Daily Mail, there seems to be confusion as to who empties the garbage cans at certain properties.

One resident commented on the trash problem: “I hope the trash isn't in a terrible state, because I'm sure it is.

Another resident suggested that people are upset about the overall condition of Poundbury. It is an eyesore because no one wants to come here and see the trash.”

An elderly resident of Poundbury told The Telegraph, “The king would be horrified.”

One local said, “There are rats.

A spokesperson for the Duchy of Cornwall said in a statement, “The Duchy of Cornwall has worked closely with Dorset Council to ensure that through the design of Poundbury, appropriate measures for waste management are provided to residents.” He continued, “We will continue to encourage municipalities, residents, and housing providers to work together to ensure that collection issues are efficiently addressed.”

Hopefully, the problems in Poundbury will be resolved soon so that King Charles' “ideal” town can be restored to its original glory.
