Taylor Swift Switches Boots at Chiefs Game, Transforms into a Style Icon

What's most relatable about Taylor Swift's style isn't her longtime love of reformatted dresses or the many colors she paints her favorite Elas Tour outfits. It's when Taylor Swift switches out her boots when the heels on her statement pair are too high to wear all night long.

Let's rewind: Swift wore Vivienne Westwood knee-high boots to the Kansas City Chiefs' game against the New Orleans Saints on October 7. Underneath the Vivienne Westwood boots, she wore a matching set of plaid dress-like dresses from the brand's Fall 2024 collection. (And the following week she wore them under a vintage T-shirt mini-dress.)

And when the Internet was distracted by her glittery freckles and matching Chief manicure, Swift changed shoes a bit.

Between the golf cart grand entrance and the Chiefs' victory, Taylor Swift's boots changed. According to photos shared by her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelcey, Swift, and several VIP members of the Chiefs Kingdom teammates, the “Down Bad” singer's first pair were not worn for the entire game. By the time the Chiefs players and WAGs gathered for the suite's after-party, Swift had traded her tall leather boots for Stella McCartney's ankle-length boots.

Some fans online were distracted by the objectively adorable pose she struck here. (And to bring a favorite shade of Nars into the spotlight, Swift's red lipstick is back after a hiatus.) We can't help but notice the boots: the same slightly controversial sock silhouette as Vivienne Westwood's boots, but with heavy gold chains. It is also one of Swift's most beloved brands: Stella McCartney is a close friend and is mentioned on the album LOVER. Most importantly, this pair has a slightly lower heel and a sturdy platform sole.

Admittedly, I don't have designers like Vivienne Westwood or Stella McCartney in my closet. But this change in footwear is the closest I've felt to Swift since I first played “Delicate”. We've all worn assertive shoes with an outfit for a photo shoot or for a sunny appearance, only to switch to more comfortable shoes later. Of course, I've never done that during a romance as portrayed by Nora Ephron.
