Jenna Fischer of “The Office” Reveals She Was Diagnosed with Breast Cancer but Is Now Cancer Free

Jenna Fischer of “The Office” revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2023 and is now thankfully cancer-free. [October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I never thought I would be making this announcement, but here I am,” Fisher wrote on Instagram on October 8. 'Last December I was diagnosed with stage 1 triple positive breast cancer. I have completed surgery, chemo, and radiation and am now cancer free."

She wrote these words along with a picture of herself with her hair nearly grown out, explaining, “I wanted a picture of myself with happy, healthy, puffy hair to go along with this news.” Thanks to Angela Kinsey's husband, Josh Snyder, for taking this picture. It is just a small example of the care they have shown me during this trip.”

Along with the photo, Fisher posted a longer statement. She explained that she was diagnosed shortly after sharing a photo of herself on her way to a routine mammogram in October 2023. She wrote on that photo at the time, “Remember to schedule your mammogram. I had mine today. You ladies have to be careful with those ticking bags.” (FYI, this is a reference to Michael Scott's famous line from The Office, and yes, it is offensive.)

The podcast host explained that she had been diagnosed with stage 1 triple positive breast cancer. She detailed the treatment she went through, the logistics of living with cancer, and praised her family and friends who supported her through this difficult time.

“Once again, please don't skip your mammograms,” Fisher concluded her statement. 'Please take it from Pam and her Pam. Michael was right. Michael was right. And please know that if you are ever diagnosed with breast cancer, there is a village waiting to take care of you.”

Olivia Munn similarly opened up about her recent breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, saying, “You already know how much I love you and how proud I am of you. But I want to say it again. I love you and by sharing your story, you are helping so many women and saving so many lives. You are the best.”

Jennifer Garner, Mindy Kaling, Angela Kinsey, Ellie Kemper, and Katie Couric also sent their congratulations to Fisher.
