Dua Lipa, like Kim Kardashian, wears pelvic cutout pants with a normcore hoodie.
While not quite Julia Fox or a glass top with nipples, Dua Lipa was, is, and will always be a provocateur in the fashion world. While she keeps her fashions classic and timeless, whether it's a leather Bottega Veneta dress or a bow-tie Gucci mini, it's not uncommon for her wardrobe to veer headlong into controversial territory.
Over the years, Ripa has rocked dozens of revealing thongs and even more nude dresses. She also loves bold cutouts. Pelvic cutouts, in particular, are the “Houdini” singer's sartorial bread and butter. She has worn nearly every variation, from peep-hole white jeans to a metallic gown at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
Earlier this week, the star embraced her favorite trend once more, stepping out in an absolute banger look on October 8. For a video shoot in New York City, Ripa donned black leather and silver grommets. Metallic rings covered the waistband of her bandana-style halter top (by Ludovic de Saint-Sernin) and leather pants. Coincidentally, the ring also featured her signature pelvic cutout.
To cover up a bit on a chilly day, Ripa paired her all-black look with some unexpected loungewear. Instead of a coordinating leather jacket or similar piece, the star opted for a charcoal zip-up hoodie as the final detail of her outfit.
Ripa's athleisure addition was surprising, but not entirely out of the blue. In recent months, mixing high glamour with laid-back pieces has become a quiet trend. The most famous example was at this year's Met Gala, where Kim Kardashian walked down the museum's iconic staircase in a leafy metallic gown and a pillowy gray cardigan.
This styling choice sent the Internet into a tizzy for several days. In an interview, Kardashian explained that her Met Gala cardigan had an imaginary backstory. She said, “My dress fell down because it was one of those nights, and I just grabbed my boyfriend's sweater, ran off, and made it to where I had to go.”
Dua Lipa has yet to comment on her pelvic cutout/hoodie combo, both times I've personally loved it, and I'm sure she'd love it again.
