Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescall couple in dark wash jeans and t-shirt
New couple Gracie Abrams and Paul Mescall looked very happy as they strolled through New York City following their concert at Radio City Music Hall. Abrams performed two concerts at the same venue last weekend and was scheduled to perform a third concert on Sunday, but had to reschedule for next Monday, October 14, due to a vocal cord injury.
Thankfully, Mescal seems to be doing fine for the intervening week; after rumors of a relationship across the pond in June, the two brought their summer romance to the United States for the fall. They even started wearing the same clothes, as couples who share a closet often do.
On a recent outing, Abrams paired a cream Moody Blues T-shirt with dark wash jeans, a small black shoulder bag, black oval sunglasses, and strappy white open-toed ballet shoes. Like a good boyfriend, Mescal matched the rising pop star freak with a white Ole Miss ringer T-shirt, navy blue pants, black leather boots, and black sunglasses.
Graphic T-shirts are enjoying a revival right now, as Generation Z is obsessed with Y2K and the indie-sleaze aesthetic. Vogue magazine notes that thanks to early t-shirt wearers like Charli XCX, Addison Ray, and Ethel Kane, the trend can be traced back to the rise of Praying for 2020's ironic slogan t-shirts. This year, the celebrity-approved graphic T-shirt seems to be Stella McCartney's “About F-cking Time!” tank top. Worn by Madonna, Paris Hilton, Amelia Gray, Charli XCX, Zoe Kravitz, and others, this graphic tank top is a recreation of the DIY design McCartney wore in 1999 when her father Paul, a Beatles legend, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's a thing of beauty. Meanwhile, Kaia Gerber has joined the trend by wearing a graphic T-shirt from her reading group Library Science.
Abrams and Mescal must have gotten the memo. Now, can we get this couple on the red carpet?
