It's been a banner year for little black dresses, and while LBDs are considered a universal staple, their red carpet presence has noticeably increased in recent months.

Kaia Gerber had a summer of LBDs. Another advocate of neutral dressing, she often goes black-on-black on the red carpet. Last month, she paired a DKNY black dress with a cowl neckline that showed off her belly button. This week, at the TIME100 Next event on October 9, the model appeared in yet another version. This time, the $4,500 Ferragamo piece with strappy straps pushed the naked dress in an artistic direction.

This mini dress was covered in ribbed embroidery and layered over a skin-colored mesh. The translucent fabric allowed just a hint of her undergarment to peek through, subtly creating the illusion of a naked dress. Her wrists and neck were bare, but she accessorized with a single ring and a pair of patent pointed-toe pumps (which, by the way, have also been a big hit this year).

Gerber looked shockingly like her supermodel mother. Her eyes and glossy lips were both coated in warm shades of burnt sienna. With honey blonde hair and bronze beats, the star positively glowed.

Kaia Gerber is hardly the only celebrity filling her closet with little black dresses. Selena Gomez has worn more than 10 LBDs in various forms this summer alone. Sabrina Carpenter has also made a dramatic change from her usual pastel lingerie, wearing dark plaids and crop tops. Of course, longtime fans of the staple, like Nicole Kidman and Meghan Seastallion, have always been supportive.
