Princess Kate's “playing peacemaker” with Prince Charles, Prince Harry, and Prince William is over, royal expert claims
Every time Prince Harry, Charles III, and Prince William are in the same country, headlines about whether they will meet are bound to fly. Tensions have been high since Oprah Winfrey's interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Harry's memoir, Spare, but whether the in-laws will speak is not Princess Kate's problem, says one royal commentator.
Christopher Andersen, author of The King, recently told “Fox News” that the Princess of Wales is worried about bigger issues as she continues to recover from her cancer battle.
“The idea that Kate still has the time and energy to continue being a peace ambassador is silly. [She tried for years and finally got fed up and raised her hand. She did her part, but not enough to build a bridge between William and Charles,” the author continued.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, in his diagnosis of the princess, added that “the Welsh family has had a tremendously difficult year. He told Fox News that “Princess Catherine will want to avoid anything that could foster negative energy.”
Avoiding getting caught up in drama seems comparable to the Princess of Wales' recent remarks about her healing journey; Kate, who announced her cancer diagnosis in March, announced in an emotional video on September 9 that she had finished chemotherapy.
“My focus now is to do what I can to remain cancer-free,” she said in the video, adding, “Chemotherapy has ended, but the road to healing and full recovery is long and I must take it one day at a time.”
Since then, the princess has quietly returned to her royal duties; on October 2, she met with teenage cancer patient Liz Hutton, a photography enthusiast who shares the royal family.
On October 10, the Crown Prince and Princess made a surprise appearance to meet with paramedics and families of children killed in a knife attack in Southport, England in July. While we are likely to see more unannounced appearances like this when the princess is ready to go out, there is one royal event that fans can expect Kate to attend.
The annual Christmas concert at Westminster Abbey is in the planning stages, and last month the princess held a planning meeting for the event.
As for the relationship between Prince Charles and Prince Harry, there are reports that the King is making efforts to get to know his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Also, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be thousands of miles away from the King, but that did not stop the Duke of Sussex from visiting when the King was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
“I jumped on a plane and went to see him as soon as I could,” Prince Harry told Good Morning America in February, discussing his father's diagnosis, adding, “Look, I love my family. I'm grateful that I got on the plane and went to see him and spent a little bit of time with him,” he added.
