Princess Eugenie, looking royal in a rare Chanel bag and olive bomber jacket
When we think of princess style, the image of dark-washed skinny jeans and riding boots comes to mind. I think of Princess Catherine's favorite preppy mariner top and barn jacket, or Meghan Markle's adorable collection of cut-out print dresses. What I don't see is edgy, street-wear-y cool. But yesterday, Princess Eugenie and her unusual Chanel bag changed that.
The royal family traveled to Mayfair for dinner at Mount St. Restaurant on Thursday, October 10. She was dressed in casual chic, totally free of the dress code of generations of monarchs. She used a few Middleton-approved pieces, like a taupe slip skirt and suede boots, but paired them with decidedly contemporary items. These included a sober but powerful white T-shirt and an olive-colored bomber jacket.
While the Royal Family tends to gravitate toward equestrian-inspired outerwear, the bomber jacket trend is a trademark of a very different subset of styles. 2015, Kanye West's Yeezy collection was a major catalyst and has since since then it has become a streetwear staple.
From there, she stacked more cool-girl essentials, a bright yellow Selfridges shopping bag (a British institution) and a large Chanel flap bag. Luxury handbag brand Chanel has long been a favorite of the royal family. Princess Kate has the entire collection of quilted styles, and Meghan Markle has been a fan of the double C on several occasions. Queen Camilla is also a fan, typically of the boxy, top-handle designs. [Princess Eugenie, however, gave the classic, “old money” handbag an edgy vibe. But Princess Eugenie gave the classic “old money” handbag an edgier touch.
If someone finds it on the second-hand market, drop a link to your girl, right?
