For Sabrina Carpenter, pop icon Taylor Swift is more than a “best friend” and a mentor in the music industry. Carpenter opened for the Eras tour earlier this year and says that working with Swift has given her “perspective on this whole process.”

In August, Carpenter told Variety: “Taylor is a rock star! Taylor is a rock star! She is a gangster in every way. No matter what people say, everything I've ever seen her tackle, she's done with grace."

While Swift has certainly influenced Carpenter's music, the “Espresso” singer has also recently been taking cues from her fashion sense. Earlier this week, she was spotted wearing an outfit that was clearly Swift-inspired. Instead of her usual pastel colors, she opted for a yellow plaid skirt, which looked like a low-key recreation of Swift's tartan check from the 2024 VMAs.

Yesterday, Carpenter once again pulled out of her mentor's closet; on October 10, Carpenter was out in New York City, dressed in her NFL girlfriend's formal wear. She wore a navy Dallas Cowboys crew neck and longline boyfriend jorts, styled with skin-tight black leather boots (a far cry from her usual peep-toe platform pumps).

Carpenter's accessory of choice was a cherry on top of her grungy athleisure look. She carried a vintage striped Chanel bag and instead of a typical statement necklace, she wore Jen Z's favorite accessory (read: chunky old school headphones) around her neck.

She may be dressed like a football girlfriend, but for all the world knows, Carpenter is still dating Saltburn actor Barry Keegan, who appeared in her “Please Please Please” music video earlier this year.
