Prince Charles Travels with Two Doctors on First Royal Tour Since Cancer Diagnosis
As King Charles makes his first royal tour since being diagnosed with unspecified cancer, the King's entourage gets a little bigger.
According to a Times report published Friday, October 11, the King will be accompanied by two doctors during his 11-day royal visit to Australia and Samoa.
“He will pause the cancer treatment he has been receiving since February,” the paper reported, adding that the monarch will be “closely monitored” during his overseas trip.
According to a royal court official interviewed by The Times, “The decision to suspend treatment and resume it upon his return to the UK was taken on the advice of his doctors.”
Both King Charles and Queen Camilla will begin their trip on Friday, October 18 and conclude their visit to Oceania on Saturday, October 26. The visits to Sydney and Canberra will be King Charles' first to Commonwealth countries since he became king following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, on September 8, 2022.
The royal family announced that King Charles had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February and has remained relatively tight-lipped about the king's health since then.
More recently, Queen Camilla's son, Tom Parker Bowles, shared a rare health update on King Charles III's cancer treatment, telling attendees at one event that “doctors say treatment is going well.”
Parker Bowles also revealed how his mother, Queen Camilla, has been dealing with her almost year-long diagnosis, telling the same crowd, “My mother is tough.”
Prince Charles reportedly received dietary instructions from both Queen Camilla and his doctors.17
The monarch reportedly always said he was too busy to stop and eat and did not have lunch, but “at the behest of his wife, entourage, and doctors, to maintain his strength He was forced to eat during the day in order to maintain his strength."
Some sources say that he was always too busy to stop and eat.
One source told the Mail on Sunday, “He is now eating avocados. 'He now eats half an avocado to energize his day. This is especially important if you are ill.”
Shortly after the monarch was diagnosed with cancer, Queen Camilla reportedly did not want to share Prince Charles' health problems with the public. She was, of course, “overruled.”
