Selena Gomez Brings a Brand New Take on the Everlasting Ribbon Trend at the “Emilia Perez” Premiere

This is the year of the girl. With a new billionaire title and a boyfriend she calls “the love of my life,” the former Disney Channel star is absolutely thriving.

If her best friend Taylor Swift has taught her anything, it's that with new times come new styles. For Gomez, that means lots of little black dresses. The Only Murderers in the Building star has been wearing more LBDs than the average celebrity these days. She even bent the dress code on Sabrina Carpenter's Short 'n Sweet Tour to fit her LBD obsession. And on several occasions, she has worn two different styles in one day.

One was on September 8, when she wore two looks at Variety's TIFF Tribute Awards (one short and modesty, the other long and feather-trimmed); the second was yesterday at the New York Film Festival, when she wore a short, modesty look to the TIFF Tribute Awards, and a long, feather-trimmed look to the New York Film Festival.

On September 30, Gomez attended the Emilia Perez premiere and wore a custom Vera Wong piece that leaned into this year's ultra-feminine bow trend. The cowl-neck design was adorned with a giant ribbon, which connected to the straps to create a racerback look.

This understated ensemble felt especially so when styled with detached sleeves and Tiffany & Co. diamonds, courtesy of Gomez's stylist, Erin Walsh.

Later that evening, Gomez made a chic quick change and reappeared in an all-black look. Shifting from black tie “to” night out, the pop star paired a textured mini dress with tights. She then completed the look with a satin lapel suit jacket and a clutch bag embellished with the same fabric, layered with more noir accessories.

Gomes kept her Tiffany sparklers, but switched her shoes from red carpet platforms to a more sophisticated style, simple pointed-toe pumps.

Bows, like the oversized ones added to Gomez's dress, have appeared everywhere from Coach to Chanel over the past few seasons as brooches, belts, strap embellishments, and more. The actress' new style proves that LBDs can be packed with personality, finding new ways to add a popular runway twist to black tie. See more styles with flare.
