Queen Elizabeth II is the Surprising Inspiration for Miu Miu's New “Balmoral” Collection

Have you ever stopped and wondered if Queen Elizabeth II would have loved Miu Miu? But that changed today when we saw Miu Miu's new Miu Miu Balmoral collection, which launched online and at select pop-up stores in Asia.

Each item in the collection is “inspired by the fearlessness of British style” and “fuses classic and vintage elements of British style,” according to Miu Miu.

But one look at Miu Miu's cozy cashmere cardigans and country-chic tweeds and one can't help but think of the late Queen Elizabeth walking through Balmoral Manor in Scotland with her signature headscarf.

Miu Miu was created by Miuccia Prada as a cooler Prada little brother. But this kind of nostalgic dressing is everywhere this season, as seen on the brand's fall 2024 runway. Miu Miu's Balmoral collection puts a slightly edgy twist on what is typically seen as a more, well, grandmotherly style.

Elizabeth was known for her signature sleek black Rauner handbag, but can you imagine her with a top-handled tartan check Miu Miu style for a country outing?

According to the brand, the Balmoral line is full of “character and understated nostalgia,” two very reminiscent of Queen Elizabeth. [Of course, not everything falls into the category of pearls and cardigans, and as part of the Balmoral collection, the brand's classic nylon windbreakers are now available in new shades of brown and bright red. There are also more oversized menswear twists on classic pieces like chunky cardigans.

As of October 1, many of the heritage-inspired items, such as the Elizabethan plaid kilt, are not yet available online. One tartan check bag, please.

In the meantime, it seems the queen was still a Miu Miu girl.
