Katie Holmes Embraces the Butter Yellow Trend for Fall with Affordable Tops, Coats, and Jeans

When fashion historians look back on the summer of 2024, it will likely be defined by long-line shorts, the tunnel walk trend, certain button-up tops, and a few select colors, namely the brat green and butter yellow trends They would be.

The latter is washing over everything from handbags and sandals to mini dresses, crop tops, slip skirts, and other summer staples. Pastels are typically reserved for the spring and summer seasons, but celebrities like Rihanna are breaking the mold and bringing cream colorways into the fall

As of this morning, Katie Holmes is the latest star to tackle the buttery yellow look; on October 3, the “Dawson's Creek” native strolled around New York City in her favorite outfit: pea coat, jeans, and loafers. She paired Banana Republic's relaxed flare jeans with the brand's pale yellow pieces.

Like Lili, Katie Holmes' outerwear was in butter yellow. She wore an oversized wool pea coat in this color. She usually wears a button-up style, but on this occasion she paired it with a turtleneck.

Not even two weeks into the fall season, Holmes has already settled on a signature look: on September 24, the actor wore another iteration of this outfit, identical in everything but color. The top and pea coat were both chartreuse green (perhaps a nod to the Charlie XCX-inspired trend). Again, she paired them with wide-leg jeans and the same black loafers.

She doesn't stop until she wears all the trendy colors of the rainbow.
