Sarah Jessica Parker shows off Carrie's coordinating teal sweater and tights.
Sarah Jessica Parker showed off her wild and colorful fall attire on the set of And Just Like That. Her outfit embodied everything we have come to expect from Carrie Bradshaw. Dangerously trendy, intentionally over-embellished designer dressing, but with just enough camp to let you know she's in on the joke.
Styled for the show by costume designer Molly Rogers, Parker built her look on October 2 around a teal puff-sleeved sweater with bijoux cuffs. The vibrant hue was offset by Ulla Johnson's asymmetrical blue and red plaid maxi skirt. (Her long blonde hair was further embellished with a loose side ponytail. And I couldn't help but wonder: will the side pony make a comeback along with tumbler nails and skinny jeans?
Parker adorned the look with a paint splattered tote bag with “The States Project” written on the side. The States Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping state legislatures, and this is an election year. Carrie Bradshaw carried a tote bag in Season 2 with the names of Democrats running for office duct-taped to it.
The actor paired her sweater with opaque teal tights, a nod to the revival of colorful socks on the spring runways. Ferragamo, for example, sent burnt orange, pale pink, taupe, and burnt orange tights down the catwalk at Milan Fashion Week earlier this month. Versace, meanwhile, updated its sheer red tight trend for spring 2025.
Kim Shui also showed several pairs of glossy blue and pastel pink tights at New York Fashion Week in February 2024.
The tights are like sartorial exclamation points. Tights in a rainbow of shades and patterns are a relatively inexpensive way to glam up an outfit. They can also transition a no-pants outfit into fall. Ms. Parker (or rather Carrie Bradshaw) may have a point.
