Meghan Markle shocked royal watchers and devoted fans with a surprise public appearance in a stunning siren red gown.

On Saturday, October 5, the Duchess of York attended the Children's Hospital Los Angeles Gala 2024 at the JW Marriott LA Live in Los Angeles, California. For the occasion, Markle wore a stunning red Carolina Herrera dress.

The figure-hugging dress featured a halter neckline, a deep gravity-defying V-neckline, and a bold forward leg split.

The dress was strictly a re-wear, but Markle switched it up by choosing not to wear the detachable skirt train she wore three years earlier at the Salute To Freedom Gala.

To complete the updated look, the Duchess of Sussex paired the gown with strappy red heels and simple gold bangles.

Markle appeared at Saturday's event without husband Prince Harry, who is visiting the African kingdom of Lesotho this week, People notes.

The two have not been seen together in public in recent weeks, but sources close to the couple say there is no need to worry about their relationship.

“Harry and Meghan have consistently pursued solo ventures related to their respective interests, but are deeply committed to their joint endeavor through Archewell,” a source told Hello! told the magazine.

Markle, who attended Saturday's gala, praised Children's Hospital L.A. as “the best place in the world” where sick children can receive the medical care they need from a team of dedicated doctors and staff.

“My goodness, the work being done at Children's Hospital L.A. is otherworldly. From my perspective as a mother, I don't think anyone would want to be in the position of having to go to a place like this, but if you have to go, Children's Hospital L.A. is probably the best place in the world,” she said in an interview posted on social media.

“I think the amount of work they do for families who can't afford this level of care is something that should never be overlooked. I am happy to support them.”

Markle has long been an avid fan of Carolina Herrera, having worn many of the designer's pieces in the past and appeared at some really high-profile events.

In 2021, during a Global Citizen “Vax Live” broadcast: the Duchess of Sussex wore a poppy print tie-waist shirt dress from the Carolina Herrera Resort 2021 collection.

And for Mother's Day 2024, Markle again repurposed her floor-length, sleeveless yellow Carolina Herrera silk column dress.
