While royals may not be known for their public displays of affection, Prince William and Kate Middleton showed an unusually intimate side of their lives in a recent cancer update video. The touching post was to announce that the princess had finished chemotherapy, but one royal writer says the couple's lovey-dovey behavior was also an important message.

“There is a strong sense that this is not just about the family, the Welsh, but also about the couple, William and Kate,” Sarah Vine of the Daily Mail wrote of the video.

The video also shows the prince kissing his wife as the Princess of Wales cuddles with her husband on a beach blanket while a shocked Princess Charlotte looks on in amusement.

“Here we see a bit of love expressed physically in an unfamiliar and unexpected way,” Wein wrote, noting that the couple “express themselves not only as royalty and parents but also as lovers.”

And although we don't often see them holding hands or hugging in public, “that doesn't mean they don't love each other deeply,” the reporter added.

Prince William has faced rumors since 2019 that he had an affair with the couple's friend, Rose Hambly, Marchioness of Cholmondeley. Wein writes that the couple's sweet moments in the film served as “an implicit but highly effective rebuttal to the rumors that have plagued them in recent years, mostly circulated on social media.”

PDA aside, the video also showed fans tender moments between the couple's children, with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis hugging their parents and walking around the beach and woods together. Even the couple's mystery dog, Aura, and Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, joined in, proving that the Welsh couple really wanted to capture their family life in photos.

As for Hambly, the Princess of Wales is said to have reunited with her friend last summer after an awkward time at a social function.
