Bella Hadid makes a triumphant return to the Paris Fashion Week runway at Saint Laurent
After a two-year hiatus, Bella Hadid made her long-awaited return to the Paris Fashion Week runway.
The model and founder of Orêbella fragrance walked the gilded runway in an oversized power suit for the Saint Laurent Spring 2025 show. Hadid has several designer catwalks under her luxury belt, but the September 24 presentation was her very first for Saint Laurent.
Hadid's look consisted of a boxy double-breasted blazer and slouchy coordinating pants layered over a white button-up and a skinny black tie. According to the show notes, her look was directly inspired by the uniforms of the Maison's founding designer, Yves Saint Laurent. She also wore glasses that recreated Yves' signature frames.
Hadid's runway styling also included pointed-toe heels and hair swept back into a wet, low bun. According to the show notes, the collection, led by creative director Anthony Vaccarello, paid homage to the duality of the Saint Laurent woman. Many looks featured flowing suits a la Bella Hadid, while other looks emphasized layered miniskirts in bright colors.
The show notes also highlighted the range of women featured in this season's show. The multifaceted appeal of the Saint Laurent woman over the years has been most eloquently embodied by the exceptional models with whom the Maison has forged enduring relationships.” These models, chosen to symbolize the diversity of personalities and the novelty of womanhood, are an integral part of the Saint Laurent universe.”
In 2024, Bella Hadid seems to be everywhere, wearing everything from Ferragamo capris to Gucci head-to-toe, but Hadid has actually disappeared from the runway. Her last full season on the catwalk was in 2022, when she was featured in the spring 2023 shows of Miu Miu and Thom Browne.
Shortly thereafter, Hadid announced that she was “stepping down” from modeling indefinitely. In an interview with Allure, she explained, “After ten years of modeling, I realized that I was putting a lot of energy, love, and effort into something that wasn't necessarily going to pay off for me in the long run.”
Saint Laurent was to be the runway for Bella Hadid's long-awaited comeback; in June, Hadid participated in her first Saint Laurent campaign, landing her first job since deciding to return to modeling. The job came after the model created $7.2 million in media impact value on the red carpet at Cannes by styling a naked dress imported directly from the runway, according to WWD.
Whether Saint Laurent's Spring 2025 show is her first of the season or her only show of the week, it will be nice to see Hadid back in her element. In fact, it feels like she never left.
