Kendall Jenner's Paris Navy Suit Dress and Gucci riding bag are my ideal fall work outfit
The big takeaway from Paris Fashion Week should revolve around the Spring 2025 trends. But as the Internet lit up on Thursday afternoon over things like what Chloé and Mugler have in store for next season, my mind was fixated on the perfect fall navy dress and the Gucci bag Kendall Jenner was carrying before the Schiaparelli show.
Just before walking the Daniel Rosebery runway on September 26, Kendall Jenner was photographed having lunch with her sister Kylie at Zeffirino restaurant in Paris. Whether it's a naked dress, an oversized suit from The Row, or a vintage blazer and jeans combination by Alaia, Jenner makes any outfit look like something you would at least consider buying. But Jenner's deep navy dress (or top and coordinating skirt?) with its slightly plunging neckline and belted waist, along with the equestrian-inspired Gucci bag slung over her shoulder, seemed to have been plucked from my mental mood board. As I waited for stylist Dani Michel to reveal the designer of Jenner's outfit, I thought this was the epitome of fall work and lunch clothes.
Jenner's bags and dresses, paired with the likes of my favorite pointed-toe flats from The Row, have the kind of timeless quality I always strive for. (One of us has unlimited access to vintage, the other works on a more limited budget.) Her dresses are sculptural but not overly severe in form, and her bags are a revival of the monogram first developed by Gucci in 1933 in equestrian saddle leather that fits the English country trend. In other words, this is exactly the kind of outfit I would wear to a lunch where I am sure to be photographed, or more realistically, on a day at work where I want to look more sophisticated yet unique than when I am wearing basic pants and flat shoes.
As for the Gucci bag: it looks even better when paired with Jenner's contemporary closet staples. Kendall, who appeared on Schiaparelli's “Future Vintage” runway in a sculptural white corset, low-rise jeans, and oversized chunky hoop earrings, left the show Thursday evening arm in arm with Kylie. She changed into a wrap coat of unknown provenance and paired it with black pants and oxford brogues. The look may have been inspired by her summer travel campaign with the Italian brand. The monogram print of her Gucci bag shone against the bottom of her trench, and the leather played on her shoulders.
Next time I go to work, I'm taking a version of this outfit with me.
