Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's divorce lawyer has also worked with Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's divorce attorney is, predictably, a Hollywood luminary. [As reported by TMZ, the now exes were spotted meeting with “disso queen” Laura Wasser at their office in West Hollywood on Monday, leading the publication to believe the family lawyer will represent both spouses as they dissolve their marriage.

TMZ further explains that the issue is complicated by the fact that J.Lo and Affleck do not have a prenuptial agreement, especially in regards to the production company that Affleck, a father of three, founded with his friend Matt Damon when he was already married to Lopez in 2022.

The singer filed for divorce from the actor on August 20 alone, i.e., without an attorney. While this made a strong statement, it appears that she needs a little additional help with the rest of the proceedings.

So who exactly is Laura Wasser? She has been involved in some of the most high-profile divorces of the past 25 years, earning her the title of “Disso Queen.”

According to The New Yorker, Wasser has been involved in Britney Spears' 2007 divorce from Kevin Federline, Angelina Jolie's 2016 separation from Brad Pitt, Kim Kardashian's 2022 divorce from Kanye West, Johnny represented Depp in his 2017 divorce from Amber Heard.

You'd think I was done."

No, no. Wasser's other former clients include: Kevin Costner, Ariana Grande, Spike Jonze, Kiefer Sutherland, Denise Richards, Travis Barker, Patricia Arquette, Ashlee Simpson, Nick Lachey, Kelis, Ryan Reynolds, Ashton Kutcher, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Hilary Duff...

Wasser also represented Affleck's ex-wife Jennifer Garner after their 2015 separation.

Speaking to People in 2018, the lawyer confirmed that she does not believe in monogamy, which is surprising given her work.

“I have two children with two different fathers. I was married for five minutes once. I'm not the best person to ask for relationship advice,” she said at the time.

“I also think, frankly, for most people, people are not meant to be lifelong companions. If you find someone and you stay with them and you stay with them until death do you part, then you are blessed and that's great. But a lot of people don't.” [So being in a happy home, in a happy relationship, is better for the children and for people in general. If you are not in a happy relationship, don't let your children grow up seeing two miserable people who hate each other. Move on.”

And a couple of final tidbits: wasser reportedly costs around $1,000 an hour for her services and is rumored to have been the inspiration for the character played by Laura Dern in the 2019 film “A Marriage Story.”
