Meg Ryan makes a comeback at Paris Fashion Week in Loewe sweatpants
Meg Ryan is the patron saint of fall. With her piecey blonde bob, Nora Ephron creations, and penchant for cozy layers, no one better embodies the spirit of the season. One could even say that fall would not begin without the sight of Meg Ryan. Lucky for us, she was at Paris Fashion Week for Loewe's Spring 2025 show on Friday, September 27.
TheWhen Harry Met Sally actor channeled her 90s menswear obsession in an intricately beaded navy blue blazer that fell to her calves. Underneath that jacket, he wore a buttery yellow button-up with an artistic botanical pattern of green leaves and blue flowers climbing up to the collar. The shirt was tucked into bulging trouser sweatpants that twisted and looped to create wing-like pockets.
Ryan accessorized her look with chunky black platform boots, a gold ring pendant necklace, an off-white Loewe flamenco mini clutch bag, and gold-rimmed sunglasses. Her brown cord necklace was reminiscent of Elsa Peretti's designs for Tiffany & Co. and fits right in with the jewelry trends for fall 2024, when pendants continue to reign supreme at Gabriela Hearst, Bottega Veneta, and Dior.
The construction of Ryan's gray sweatpants reminded me of the cocoon coat that Jil Sander sent down the Fall 2024 runway at Milan Fashion Week in February. Loewe's Creative Director Jonathan Anderson's application of similar experimental draping techniques to the humble drawstring sweatpant, elevating the most overlooked garment in every woman's (and Rom-com heroine's) wardrobe, was Interesting.
After all, that is what Meg Ryan's fall is all about.
