Gigi Hadid on Vetements Paris Fashion Week runway in a DHL tape mini dress
Gigi Hadid was the one-of-a-kind Material Girl on Vetements' Spring 2025 Paris Fashion Week runway.
The model and guest-in-residence founder walked the runway for the second time at Paris Fashion Week looking like the result of a late night shopping spree at Mytheresa. Her mini dress, if you can call it that, looked like it was made of yellow DHL tape. It was as if Gigi Hadid wanted a costume for the ABC party so badly that a friend who works in international logistics lent a hand to complete her look.
Hadid's DHL dress was accompanied only by pointed-toe pumps wrapped all over with the same yellow and red tape. Her lobes were slightly wet, parted deeply to the side, and her makeup was minimal, with just a hint of sparkle. The naked manicure he had worn the night before with a gold Rabanne naked dress was swapped for a grungy black polish.
If Hadid's DHL tape dress and runway finale with rapper Travis Scott was a set-up to put the scroll of Paris Fashion Week on pause, it was dead on. Vetements prides itself on designing meme-like pieces that poke fun at the self-centered institution known as fashion. Sometimes it works powerfully, but sometimes it feels like feeding an algorithm. The label is currently led by Gram Vasaria, brother of Balenciaga's Creative Director Demna. The duo parted ways creatively in 2019. Some online commenters noted that Hadid's DHL dress bore a slight resemblance to a Balenciaga caution tape jumpsuit once worn by Kim Kardashian in 2022.
Whether Gvasalia's brother was nodding to another brother through his design, we do not now know. What we can clearly point out is that Hadid's dress looked different from her other brief appearances throughout Fashion Month. Earlier this week, Hadid walked the Rabanne runway alongside the space-age sequin and revived windbreaker trends, wearing a layered striped button-down and wide-leg shorts. She looked more like she was ready for a leisurely boat ride than a postal trip.
Her Fashion Month journey also included walking the Milan Fashion Week runway for Versace in a floral cut-out dress. Hadid's castings have become increasingly infrequent lately as she focuses on her cashmere brand, her campaign work, and raising her daughter, Kai. So to see Hadid walking down the catwalk in a DHL taped dress feels like a long-awaited package has arrived.
