Oprah Wears Pumpkin Spice Suit for Kamala Harris Campaign
Oprah didn't just hold a rally with Vice President Kamala Harris on September 19. She matched the Democratic candidate's campaign outfit styling.
At the “Unite for America” virtual rally in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Oprah Winfrey took the stage in a pumpkin spice power suit. The shade was warm, friendly, and autumnal, and Oprah felt as if she were welcoming viewers into her living room, rather than into the studio where thousands of viewers from across the country would see her. The tie-neck blouse, single-breasted blazer, and single-pleated pants were tailored to match the suit Harris wore during her presidency.
Since becoming the Democratic delegate this summer, Kamala Harris has attended rallies, galas, and her first presidential debate in a variety of power suits (and at one event, a sequined gown by LaQuan Smith.) On September 18, she chose a feminine and powerful powder blue suit For the September 19 rally, Harris chose a deep eggplant suit instead, with a black blouse underneath.
The exact credits for Oprah and Harris' suits have not yet been released. However, it is clear that the two are united in their styling choices. Oprah's Pumpkin Spice suit, a reference to the blazer, blouse, and rugged shoes that are the pillars of Kamala Harris' campaign wardrobe, showed support for the candidate with her attire and presence at the event. This is important: Winfrey is an independent and does not often publicly endorse candidates in major U.S. elections. However, she did endorse Harris at the Democratic National Convention this summer.
According to Reuters, Oprah asked Harris about her views on immigration and gun violence in the broadcast, which was watched by at least 200,000 people. She also observed that a “veil has been lifted” on Harris' persona after he entered the presidential race and received the nomination. Audience and celebrity guests, including Meryl Streep and Chris Rock, also took the opportunity to ask questions about Vice President Harris' record and her plans for the office should she win.
Last night's rally was Oprah's first major political action since the DNC. The rest of the month was busy with Fashion Month, and in early September she was the campaign star for LaPointe's Spring 2025 campaign. Oprah's endorsement is coveted in many ways.
