Demi Moore on Why She Doesn't Give Parenting Advice to Daughter Rumer Willis

Demi Moore opened up about her life as a grandmother and why she avoids giving parenting advice to her daughter, new mom Rumer Willis.

On Friday, September 20, Moore visited the set of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” to open up about her role as grandmother to Willis' daughter, 17-month-old Luetta.

“What I've learned is that I generally don't give advice unless I'm asked,” the actress, who appears in the new film “Substance,” told host Jennifer Hudson.

“First of all, she's an amazing mother and I'm so proud of her,” she said of her daughter and new mom, Willis. 'She is truly incredible. And if I were asked, I would gladly share my experience, my strength, my hope. But if not, I prefer to remain silent.”

Moore further explained, “As a parent, I think you have to give your children the dignity of their own process.”

“Sometimes they need to find their own way,” she added, “even if I am right, and often I am... That doesn't mean she is wrong.”

Moore has three daughters (Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30) with her ex-husband Bruce Willis; a proud mother of three, Moore sees her role as a parent not necessarily to “save” her children, but instead to help them grow up, to She explained that she sees it as giving them room to make mistakes and develop their own identities.

“For me, I feel like my job is just to love children and give them room to be who they are,” she said.
