Selena Gomez's Toronto International Film Festival Red Carpet Dress Defies Rosette Trend

Selena Gomez was dressed in a Rodarte sequin dress on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival for the premiere of “Emilia Perez”. Let's talk about multitasking.

From hair clips in Copenhagen to antique brooches in New York, the rosette trend blossoming in the accessories market tends to be sweet and petite. Designers add red satin rosettes to shirts, ballet shoes, clutch bags, and chokers when they seek soft, romantic embellishment. Selena Gomez's gowns set huge black rosettes on spaghetti strap halter necks, adding a gothic twist to the trend.

Erin Walsh styled Gomez as a fusion of Morticia Adams and Old Hollywood. She paired a sequin-studded black dress with mermaid waves, a deep side part, and bold red lipstick that looked like it came straight out of Taylor Swift's makeup bag. Gomez also layered Tiffany diamond drop earrings and a diamond ring.

Gomez spent the past few days on the film festival circuit promoting “Emilia Perez.” First, she stopped by the Telluride Film Festival wearing fall staples like a camel coat and jeans. A few days later, she attended the Toronto International Film Festival in a little black dress and $18,000 Tiffany & Co. earrings.

The rosette trend was scheduled to make a comeback in Selena Gomez's press tour wardrobe. Stylist Erin Walsh united the actor's red carpet wardrobe with three-dimensional florals throughout the Emilia Perez promo cycle, beginning at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where Gomez wore a Giambatista Valli red off-the-shoulder gowns. She also appeared in a Balmain skirt printed with oversized red roses. These are all references to the Saint Laurent plunge-neck jumpsuit covered in photorealistic flowers that Gomez wears in the film.

Not all of Selena Gomez's red carpet looks are filled with flowers. Her biggest look at the Cannes Film Festival was a Saint Laurent gown that surprised with its simplicity: a white wrap-around bodice and black column skirt. Still, the actress has time to work more of the rosette trend into her press tour wardrobe if she wants to.
