Halle Berry Says Beauty is an “Empty Victory” and Embraces Aging Instead

Halle Berry is known for many things, from her Oscar-winning acting career to her unique skin care and beauty regimen. And when it comes to the latter, Berry is no longer afraid of aging and embraces the changes that come as she approaches 60.

Speaking about her approach to beauty in a world obsessed with appearance, Berry told Marie Claire magazine. It might feel good to be the center of attention, but it's always a hollow victory for me.

Instead, the 58-year-old actress places far greater value on other areas of life over which she has more control. She explained, “The kind of mother I am, the kind of partner I have, the movies I've been in, the acting accolades I've earned over the years, the charity work I do, it all has to do with me.”

“And if someone finds value in those things, it brightens my heart.”

Berry's approach to aging is incredibly refreshing, especially as the entertainment industry and social media continue to promote unrealistic beauty standards.

“I always knew I was more than this face, more than this body,” Berry explained in her profile.

“So when it starts to lose that, maybe for the first time in my life, people will focus on other aspects of me.

The “Others” star is also not afraid to call out the double standard that women face both in the entertainment industry and the world at large. 'Age is just a number they put on you at birth,' she said. As women, we are defined by our age much more than men are, and sometimes it debilitates us. It can trick us into thinking what we should do."
