New York City may be in the midst of Fashion Week, but Katie Holmes has no qualms about her daily street style.

The actress took her usual casual stroll through Manhattan on Monday morning, September 9. This time, she sprinkled her effortless street style magic on three of Fall 2024's hottest trends, ending with an unexpected but ultra-chic combination that included classic ballet flats and a souped-up barn jacket.

Holmes' look of the day was an oversized, bright red barn jacket with large pockets and zipper detailing. She layered a slouchy style, similar to the barn jacket she wore in May, to contrast the all-black outfit. Underneath, she wore a simple black T-shirt and high-waisted straight pants.

The Dawson's Creek alumna loves comfortable shoes, and she switched between Rising “It” sneakers and dainty designer flats throughout the summer. But Holmes is making the most of her classic ballet flat collection as much as possible with the official start of fall just a few days away. For the occasion, she styled her sophisticated black leather flats with brown tortoise sunglasses.

She also packed her outfit into an XXL cream-colored canvas tote and slung it over her shoulder. Of all the trendy maxi bags she has carried so far, this must be the biggest.

Holmes never lets the changing of the seasons affect her style, and her latest outfit proves that she's embracing the perfect cues for transitional periods, like light layering, with comfort. Nothing says “Katie” like a chic blend of relaxed silhouettes-baggy jackets, wide pants, cute shoes, and a supersized bag to tie the look together.
