Anna Sawai to win first Emmy at the 2024 Emmy Awards in her “Dream Dress” red Vera Wong gown.

Anna Sawai captured the hearts of millions of viewers when her show “Shogun” premiered on FX earlier this year. Subsequently, her red carpet looks proved her to be a style star to watch and won the hearts of fashion insiders, and her custom Vera Wang gown on the red carpet of the 2024 Emmy Awards solidified her status as a bona fide fashion girl.

Sawatzki's custom-made gowns were a true fashion girl.

Sawai won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for “Shogun,” in which she played an aristocratic Japanese woman in the 1600s. In her heartfelt acceptance speech, she said, “I dedicate this award to all women who expect nothing and remain a role model for all.”

Off-screen, Sawai's style is as balanced and layered as her character. Whether she is wearing a matching all-leather set while sitting in the front row at a Chanel haute couture show or posing in double denim for a Marie Claire interview, she is always in perfect harmony with her frame and softness.

The same can be said about tonight's look. To celebrate her nomination (and subsequent win), Sawai teamed up with megawatt stylist Carla Welch (her other clients include Hailey Bieber and Greta Gerwig) in a red mermaid peplum-style gown custom-made for her by Vera Wong She was ranked on the best-dressed list. Wearing sparkling jewelry by Cartier, journalist Zana Roberts Lassi, who is hosting E!'s pre-show “Live From The Red Carpet,” said Welch called Sawai's dress a “dream dress.” That said, the actress shines in that shade tonight.

Speaking of her glow, Sawai opted for a dewy, naturally glamorous makeup look for her Emmy debut. She matched this summer's red blush trend and accented it perfectly with classic black eyeliner and a pink-nude lip color. Her glossy black hair was swept back and pulled into a low bun.

Sawai's ensemble on the red carpet tonight is a perfect complement to the rest of her look. The actress has become known for her structured looks; at the premiere of Shogun in Los Angeles in February 2024, she chose a gray Prada gown with oversized grommets, an architectural statement to her classic silhouette.
