TheraFace Depuffing Wand, just released by TheraBody, convinced me not to use ice rollers forever!
We've known TheraBody since the beginning; their TheraGun, launched in 2016, has been a hot commodity in our home (great for back knots). But TheraBody wanted a piece of the burgeoning beauty tool market, which is projected to be worth more than $92 billion by 2023. [Over the past 18 months, they have launched Theraface microcurrent devices and LED masks. To put it bluntly, the products are perfect. But for a company founded by chiropractors, they were a bit unexpected. Nevertheless, the brand's recent launch of the Theraface Depuffing Wand convinced me that this pain management brand is surprisingly in tune with the needs of beauty consumers.
While most beauty tools are different fonts of the same device (how many LED masks do we really need?), the Theraface Depuffing Wand is purely the first of its kind. It is simple. It is hassle-free; it doesn't cost a billion dollars. And, in fact, it is innovative.
The hand-held, cordless device uses cold and heat therapy to contour, reduce swelling, and promote lymphatic flow. The heat therapy feature allows skin care products to penetrate deeper and promotes lymphatic drainage.
No guide or instruction manual is needed. Just press one button. Read on to learn more about this tool, its benefits, and my personal experience testing this tool.
The device has two functions: heat therapy and cooling therapy. The former is used prior to skin care and stimulates blood circulation, improves lymphatic flow, and opens the pores for better penetration of skin care.
The latter is the star of the show, in my opinion, and is like an ice roller on steroids. Standardized cooling treatments to reduce puffiness, diminish dark circles, and enhance radiance. Neela Nathan, M.D., FAAD, says, “When you wake up with puffiness, it's often due to fluid buildup from sleeping positions, and in some cases allergies and diet can play a role.”
“A cold treatment at a safe temperature in the morning can help reduce puffiness and instantly refresh the appearance.”
The tip of the device is uniquely designed to fit into the crevices under the eyes, while having flat edges to cover a larger surface area. Whether at home or on the go, you can treat your entire face in just a few minutes.
A little about my skin. I have rosacea (heat triggered), I am prone to redness, and swelling is my daily status quo. For those reasons, I'm an ice roller fanatic. On long weekends and vacations, I bring along a sturdy roller that weighs 5 pounds. When I'm at home, I pull it out of the fridge every morning to give my sculpting a boost. I've tried hundreds of them in my quest for the best, but I still have a few complaints: they don't stay cold for more than 10 minutes. They are also sometimes too cold and stick to the skin. I have also used more high-tech cooling devices. But even my favorite ones are a) a bit bulky and b) require a sheet mask as a buffer.
So when Therabody's tool arrived on my apartment doorstep and claimed to dispel all of my major shortcomings, I couldn't wait to test it.
My first thought: I love how easy it is to use. I am a beauty professional, and I still find myself reviewing instruction manuals for household devices and googling tutorials on YouTube. This is literally done at the touch of a button.
The tip is perfectly designed for the area under the eyes (the part that desperately needs to be deflated). As for the temperature, it doesn't have to be 'liquid nitrogen' or anything like that, but it's cold enough that you know it's working.
I massage my face with the tips for roughly 5 minutes every morning and have already noticed a big difference. My under eyes look brighter and my face looks faintly lifted by the time I start applying makeup. I can honestly say that I have completely eliminated the need for an ice roller.
