Blake Lively doubles up on fall trend, baggy denim
The star of Blake Lively's “It Ends With Us” press tour was the self-proclaimed maximalist's wardrobe. For the past few months, Lively has been photographed in a parade of floral “fits,” from a red carpet gown covered in glittering roses to jeans with flower-shaped cutouts to a leather suit set with daisy graffiti. But now, as the weather changes and the interview slows, Lively is returning to her signature street style with the help of the double denim trend.
On September 5, she was photographed strolling in New York City with husband Ryan Reynolds. She wore a pair of relaxed low-rise patchwork blue jeans with off-white Nike Air Force 1s and a relaxed dusty blue denim blazer. He also paired them with a poppy-studded white knit sweater, a floral cross-body cell phone holder “purse,” and a pair of John Lennon-inspired Garrett Leight round sunglasses. The floral top and cell phone accessory were a nod to the flower store owned by Lily Bloom, Lively's character, and the jeans were decorated with patchwork (Bloom wears several patchwork items in the film).
Lively may have prioritized slim-fit clothing and more feminine silhouettes while promoting her summer movie, but this fall is all about baggy basics and Canadian tuxedos. Stars have been embracing roomy pant legs and doubling up on denim all year long, but Lively is turning that trend into a staple this season. After seeing oversized denim on the runways of Brandon Maxwell, Chloe, Michael Kors, and Dries Van Noten earlier this year, we're betting on a major revival of baggy jeans for fall 2024. And Blake Lively is proving our theory right.
