Angelina Jolie, who plays legendary opera singer Maria Callas in the new biopic “Maria,” is dressing the part off-screen as well: on the red carpet at the film's premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival on Thursday (August 29), she attended the event in a look that captured the Old Hollywood glamour of the crows.

She wore a beige chiffon shirred strapless gown custom designed by designer Tamara Ralph. Jolie paired this elegant dress with a faux fur stole that perfectly matched her honey blonde hair. She then added a dramatic contrast with a bright fire engine red lip and matching acrylic nails. [The stole was adorned with a gold floral brooch encrusted with diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and rubies. This 1972 “Rose Ouvrante” pin was part of Callas' impressive jewelry collection, and Jolie wore it in the film.

The pin has a mechanism that allows the petals to open and close. Jolie told Vogue magazine that she was fascinated by the way it changed from a closed flower to a blooming flower. I like to think it made her smile. It's a little secret in my work.”

Earlier that same day, Jolie wore another brooch from the crow's closet. This time she chose a gold Cartier panther and fastened it to the shoulder of a simple black column dress. She said, “You can imagine how special it is to wear her jewelry.”
