Julia Fox, What's in your glass handbag?
The only person doing anything interesting in the fashion world right now is Julia Fox. This model treats fashion as a performance art, dressing not in looks, but in costumes that cause confusion and start conversations.
She has done this through every medium imaginable, turning the mundane into something controversial. For example, watch skirts, resin leaf bra tops, and neckties turned into tops. When Julia Fox is not wearing random objects as clothing, she accessorizes them instead. See-through handbags are part of her wildest looks, often stuffed with condoms for maximum impact.
Her most recent outfit was similar. No contraceptives were visible, but her glass bag was stuffed with an even more controversial substance: money. Giving new meaning to the term “investment piece,” Fox used the cold cash as an accessory, effectively elevating the simple white dress. (Incidentally, this is the same Gap shirtdress that Anne Hathaway wore a few months earlier.)
Next to the cash accessories, the minimal maxi dress was the most surprising aspect of Fox's look. For someone who likes to go mostly nude on the red carpet, this was an unexpectedly subdued choice. To counter its simplicity, she used a common wardrobe malfunction to give the button-down dress some texture. By simply skipping one buttonhole at a time, Fox added interest and showed off some much-needed skin.
Being a fashion anarchist, her bold choices did not stop there. A huge “brat green” hat, opera gloves, and $985 Dsquared2 pumps.
Even in the most basic of outfits, Julia Fox manages to shock and awe.
