Addison Ray pays homage to Madonna with cone-shaped bra top
Addison Ray is finding her place in the pop scene while paying homage to those who came before her: the TikTok star and up-and-coming singer is known for being inspired by Britney Spears, but now she is paying homage to another legend There she is: Madonna.
Rae walked the red carpet at Variety's Power of Young Hollywood event in Los Angeles on August 8 in a Dusty Mauve velvet cone bra. The cones protruded well beyond her breasts and looked like soft horns. She kept the rest of her outfit simple with high-waisted, slim dark burgundy cigarette pants and pointed patent leather peep-toe heels.
The top was a collaboration between Jean Paul Gaultier and Russian designer Lotta Volkova and was presented in May 2022. Volkova, known for her work with Miu Miu, Balenciaga, and Vetements, reworked JPG's archival signature corn bra creation. [The cone bra became widely known in 1990 when Madonna wore a Jean Paul Gaultier custom pink satin bodysuit with a distinctive conical bust on her "Blond Ambition" tour. However, the design dates back to the bullet bras worn in the 40s and 50s. Gaultier first introduced the style on the runway in 1984 in a velvet orange dress with long conical cups.
Madonna cosplay aside, Rae was busy establishing herself as a notable It Girl. Today she makes her major label debut on Columbia Records, releasing her first solo single since last year, "Diet Pepsi."
This isn't the first time Rae has referenced the Queen of Pop; in May, she posted a black-and-white photo on Instagram of herself wearing fishnet stockings, denim shorts, and a corn bra. In the past year alone, Kylie Jenner, Charli XCX, and Cardi B have all worn different breasted pointy outfits. Cone bras are making a comeback (resurgence?).
