Kesha, "Birkin Skirt" at Lollapalooza with fishnets and fake blood accessories

While performing in front of 100,000 screaming fans at this year's Lollapalooza, Kesha clearly had something to say... And she used fashion to say it.

On Thursday, August 1 at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, she took the stage wearing a skirt that looked like her infamously expensive Birkin bag. The "Birkin Skirt" is part of Namilia's Spring/Summer 2024 collection, titled "In Loving Memory of My Sugar Daddy."

In describing the collection, the fashion brand states that for S/S 24 "Gold digger clichés are turned upside down as we play with visual cues to challenge sexist assumptions."

"We congratulate you on using hyperfemininity to get what you want and what you deserve. Our legions of bimbo sugar babes, glamorous trophy wives, and villainous vixens are breaking the norms of femme sexual expression," the explanation continues. If men objectify women by turning them into status symbols and luxury items, it's no wonder Namorian women see him as a mere means to an end, a human bank account for their own elevation." For our deadly it-girl, being sexy is a full-time job. May the man rest in peace and may his money live long and prosper."

The singer also wore a fishnet pulled up to her gills, and if that symbolism wasn't obvious enough, she performed while holding a knife as a prop.

Kesha completed the look with a controversial "LOL" white tank. Many consider this a subtle insult to Katy Perry's work with Dr. Luke.

Dr. Luke repeatedly denied the claims and now sued Kesha for defamation. It took nearly 10 years for the case to be settled out of court.

In a recent interview with Forbes, the 37-year-old singer-songwriter opened up about the liberation and peace she felt after settling her legal battle with the producer and founder of Chemosabe Records.

"I feel free for the first time since I was 18," she told the magazine at the time." I am so grateful to everyone who streamed "Joyride. I have spent nearly a decade in litigation and millions of dollars in legal fees. I love that people are ready to "Joyride" with me because this joy was hard won for me."

In 2010, Kesha claimed that her style comes from her appearance of being "broke."

And while she has certainly experienced some sort of personal and professional renewal, it is clear that she has stayed true to her old roots of fishnets, ripped shirts, and shocking ensembles.
