Jennifer Lopez didn't leave her dreamy designer dresses behind in the Hamptons. But now she's back in town and elevating them with the celebrity-favorite shoe trend.

J.Lo attended a performance of "Cats" in New York City on Thursday, August 1, wearing a midi that was perfect for her July bike ride in the Hamptons. Instead of the $55 flip-flops she wore on vacation, she paired the watercolor floral pattern on her Alice + Olivia dress with Gucci's burgundy slingback heels. She also added a Gucci Jackie bag in the same dark red hue and Jennifer Fisher's signature hoop earrings.

Jennifer Lopez's romantic floral dress featured oversized ribbon ties at the shoulders and a small black ribbon belt at the waist. The dress matched Dior's sheer 55th birthday dress and Mass's floral skirt.

Her accessories, meanwhile, suggested a shift from her beloved and rare Birkin to a new heritage designer bag. Gucci's Jackie 1961 silhouette is one of the Italian label's all-time signatures, with fans ranging from Dua Lipa to Miley Cyrus (and several Marie Claire fashion editors).

And another Gucci attraction, the slingback heel, is a sign of the fall 2024 shoe trend and already has a celebrity following. From Los Angeles to London, A-listers spent the summer in pointed slingback flats with double-G logos on the straps. Kendall Jenner paired a deconstructed little black dress with a black Gucci slingback at a party last month, and a few weeks earlier Taylor Swift wore a Vivienne Westwood corset and Easter egg watch choker with the same pair in burgundy

The fall 2024 runways all suggested that business-up-front footwear would dominate the coming season. In addition to Gucci and Kite, Prada, Chloe, and Miu Miu put sharp points on slip-ons and slingback heels. And as is the case with most fashion, the look has already made its way into more affordable brands like Reformation and Larroude.

The celebrity-favorite, to-the-point heel trend is fitting for Jennifer Lopez's post-holiday style era. She returned to New York after her 55th birthday in a blazer and Birkin bag. A similar pair of heels would be just as mindful in a dreamy dress as in a sharp suit.
