Kendall Jenner Deconstructs Little Black Dress at Star-Studded Gucci Party

By day, minimalist Kendall Jenner takes classic jeans and flip-flops to a new level by simply opting for an elegant handbag and sneakers. By night, she reinvents the little black dress by completely deconstructing it.

Kendall Jenner arrived at Miley Cyrus and Gucci's poolside summer party at Chateau Marmont on Thursday, July 18 ready to say “yes” and challenge the style status quo. From afar, it looked like she and stylist Dani Michelle were wearing Gucci little black dresses with simple scoop necks and high hemlines. Up close, Jenner had deconstructed the mini silhouette and reconstructed it with slinky separates. The nearly backless top was tucked into a matching mini skirt, and a double-G logo belt tied the whole look together.

With the exception of her sleek slingback heels, Jenner's exact pieces were not available for purchase at press time.

A tiny bit of lingerie dressing played into the late night look. Jenner's black top slightly covered her torso, revealing a lace bralette on either side. Aside from bright red nails, long waves, and fresh summer blush, her only accessory was a Gucci bag containing only the essentials for her outing. This mini style would hold her cell phone and a tube of nude lipstick.

Jenner was joined by a group of distinguished guests, including actress Salma Hayek Pinault, stylist Lo Roach, and Gucci Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, for the Italian house's “Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid Eau de Parfum” dressed up to toast the campaign. The evening featured lush floral decorations and a private performance by host Miley Cyrus that included her Grammy-winning hit “Flowers.”

It is Jenner's creative styling that layers the pieces to create the illusion of an LBD. Recently, she has pulled out custom one-and-done pieces for travel (like the whimsical Khaite sheer dress she wore in Spain) and copy-and-pasted outfits from The Row runway.

These models' party outfits are respectable even without the lavish party invitations they receive. Of course, putting a deconstructed little black dress back together takes a little more work than simply wearing a classic off the rack. Instead of hiring a stylist to create the look, try these Jenner-inspired LBDs below.
