Jennifer Lawrence Turns Fall Shacketto Trend into Summer Essentials

Last week, Jennifer Lawrence revived the jelly sandal trend with just a walk around the neighborhood. Today, she's convincing those who catch her on her way to her car that the fall shacket trend is actually a summer necessity.

On Tuesday, July 9, Jennifer Lawrence was photographed in a celebrity version of daytime pajamas. The hems of her relaxed pants pooled around her white sneakers.

The shackette trend, with oversized shirts styled as jackets, usually makes a comeback every fall. It appeared in the form of cozy flannel and huggable teddy fabrics, reminiscent of afternoons spent apple picking (or simply buying cider at the grocery store). But Jennifer Lawrence brought extra-oversized layers into the 91-degree Fahrenheit present. It helped that she got into her air-conditioned car and accessorized with Hydro Flask.

Jennifer Lawrence is not the first celebrity to treat a shirt like relaxed outerwear. Last month, Selena Gomez wore the easiest summer trend, the shirt, with black pants and Zara heels; some A-list approved brands like Leset are destined for street style cameos, including Frankie Shop, Staud, and Donni cranked out matching shorts and summer shackets.

The actress's obsession with summer shackets cannot be overstated: on a late June stroll, Lawrence paired trendy parachute pants with her trusty shackets and black mules. On this occasion, she unbuttoned a thin layer to reveal a white T-shirt and carried an oversized bag from St. Agni (which adds three more trends to her attire: oversized bags like hers have appeared in runway collections from Coach to Ferragamo )

Celebrities follow different seasonal styling rules than we do. They often jump from their air-conditioned city cars to (and back to) freezing premiere and talk show venues. Still, it's easy to imagine them grabbing a shacket like Jennifer Lawrence's and throwing it on over linen pants to complete an easy summer work outfit. And come fall, our closets will be ready for serious layering.
