Olivia Henson's wedding day updo was a subtle homage to Kate Middleton
Every bride has a specific vision of her wedding day, from the exact length of her train to the exact shade of her blush, and for the "high society wedding of the decade" on Friday, June 7, Olivia Henson, now the Duchess of Westminster, has made Kate Middleton reportedly placed her at the center of the beauty mood board.
Olivia Henson walked down the aisle to marry Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, in an elegant updo with a slight side part, surrounded by Fabregé's Myrtle Leaf Tiara. "Express" is a story about this simple, The Express reported that the simple, elegant hairstyle was a subtle homage to Kate.
In addition to following in Princess Kate's footsteps with her understated, sophisticated hairstyle (she has attended many engagement ceremonies with a sleek updo with an equally striking headpiece), Henson commissioned one of the royal family's favorite salons.
London-based salon Richard Ward Hair confirmed on Instagram that artistic director Cristiano Bassiou styled Henson's regal hairstyle. The same location is a frequent stop for Princess Kate, along with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
"We are extremely proud of our very talented artistic director Cristiano for his amazing work creating stunning hairstyles for the wedding of the Duke of Westminster and Olivia Henson," salon owners Richard and Helen wrote in a statement. His outstanding work, which has appeared in renowned publications such as British Vogue and Tatler, is a testament to his artistic abilities. Cristiano's attention to detail and creative vision have once again set a new standard in bridal hairstyling." We couldn't be more thrilled to honor his accomplishments.
Henson's wedding-day tribute to Kate Middleton was more spiritual than precise styling: back at the Princess of Wales' 2011 wedding, she styled her hair in loose curls with a deep side part. Clipped to her hair was a Cartier Halo Tiara borrowed from Queen Elizabeth's collection; WWD reported that the stunning heirloom had belonged to the late queen since she was 18 and was set with 739 brilliant diamonds and 149 baton diamonds! ... According to Tatler magazine, Elizabeth II never wore the piece in public.
Henson, on the other hand, wore the Myrtle Leaf Tiara by Grobner Fabregier. The design, a wreath of leaves studded with diamonds and pearls, was last made in 2004 for the wedding of Tamara (sister of the Duke of Westminster) and Edward van Katzem.
The nod to the Duchess of Wales is a touching tribute on Henson's part. Kate Middleton has largely stepped back from public life following the news of her cancer diagnosis. Naturally, she did not attend Henson's wedding last week (although her longtime friend Prince William supported the Duke and Duchess of Westminster by serving as usher during the ceremony).
Olivia Henson's wedding day look was full of other meaningful details. For example, her Emma Victoria Payne custom-made dress, featuring floral details inspired by her great-grandmother's first veil, dates back to the 1880s.
