Katie Holmes shows off her curly and straight hair with caramel syrup highlights
Katie Holmes holds a special place in the hearts of countless style lovers for her iconic, expansive closet and mastery of effortless dressing. This week, her latest look was as much about the outfit as it was about the effortless, undone hairstyle. Attending a series of events, Holmes showed off her subtle caramel-colored highlights, which look great on both straight, flat-ironed hair and bouncy, curly hair.
Holmes began showing off how chic her highlights look regardless of hairstyle on Monday, June 10, in New York City. She attended the Chanel x Tribeca Film Festival dinner at the Odeon Theater in a see-through lace set and wore her hair in waves that framed her face.
Holmes' curls were enhanced by the slight color contrast of the honey brown highlights. This was especially true of the most blonde and bouncy tresses, which were lit on the right side of her face. Her new coloring also added dimension to Holmes' signature brunette hue, symbolizing the beach-ready vibe that many of us attempted at the Sun Inn.
The following afternoon, Holmes pin-straightened her hair. It flowed down past the waist cut of her summer sweater dress, giving her the impression of a mermaid. Her quick hairstyle not only flaunted the length of her hair, but also highlighted how bright Holmes' new highlights were.
Holmes worked on both looks with her longtime hair team, colorist Gina Gilbert and hairstylist DJ Quintero. The latter Instagrammed a close-up of Holmes' bouncy curls for Chanel. He gave kudos to the rest of Holmes' Glam and Wardrobe team, including makeup artist Genevieve Hare and wardrobe stylist Bree Welch, but he did not reveal exactly which products Holmes used to achieve her sun-kissed color
Holmes was not a fan of the "sun-like colors.
While Holmes typically dances (and dresses) to her own beat, her new beauty look reflects the 2024 hair trend that is now dominating Hollywood. Celebrity colorist Rita Hazan previously told Marie Claire magazine that warm, honey shades will be the norm this year. 'Natural, effortless, happy, bright gold tones. Rihanna and Beyonce have already tried blonde and light brown shades.
Between her voluminous evening curls and straight hair during the day, Holmes has put to rest the fears many of us have when trying a new hairstyle or color. If you're thinking about lightening your hair this summer, or if you're anxious about changing your signature style, take a cue from Holmes and be wary. And bring both photos of her caramel syrup highlights to your colorist.
