Read MoreNicole Kidman proved herself to be a master of illusion at her latest red carpet appearance.
Attending the world premiere of the new Netflix movie "A Family Affair" at the Egyptian Theatre Hollywood in Los Angeles, California, on Thursday (June 13), Kidman wore a nude-colored custom Gucci gown made of skin-colored silk. It made onlookers look twice.
According to W Magazine, the bomb gown, inspired by a look from Sabato de Sarno's Fall 2024 Gucci collection, featured a waist-high slit and corset bustier made of nude illusion fabric, and Kidman wore almost nothing! looked.
The actress coordinated her dress with strappy sandal heels and a Gucci gold choker necklace. The off-white, flesh-toned look was comparable to Hollywood's obsession with naked dressing, with no see-through mesh or peek-a-boo cutouts. Obviously, there is no need to actually show skin in an almost naked outfit.
Other Hollywood A-listers have also embraced the almost skinless look, perhaps more literally, with racy cutouts and see-through prints. For example, on the red carpet at the 2024 Met Gala, everyone from Florence Prue to Ice Spice to Paris Hilton wore see-through gowns, showing more than just legs with carefully placed cut-outs and tons of see-through fabric.
Actress Vanessa Hudgens showed off her baby belly in a revealing cape-style dress layered with matching black underwear.
When Kidman has not embraced the last-minute look, she has made her red carpet appearances more family-friendly; in April, the actress' daughters Sunday and Faith made their first red carpet appearance in honor of Kidman's AFI Life Achievement Award.
15-year-old Sunday wore a white floral strapless gown, while 13-year-old Faith wore a poppy red strapless dress.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2023, Kidman admitted that she had "always been drawn to fashion," with a more direct focus on "classic lines with a twist."
"I don't shy away from edgy. 'I've been very lucky because I love the artistry of fashion. I have been friends with many designers since I was young when I first came to the U.S. to work. I get to wear their clothes and be a part of their lives."
