Paige DeSorbo reflects on how she went into her career taking a "turn" from feeling "very lost"
Welcome to "Nice Talk". Every week, Nikki sits down with attractive women — entertainers, entrepreneurs, creators, athletes, and changemakers — to discuss money, power, and style. "Well-behaved" women have long been discouraged from talking about these topics - style should be effortless, and conversations about money and power should not be "appropriate," "demure," or "nice.""But the definition of Nikki's lovely story is one that all parties walk away feeling empowered. You can listen to "Nice Talk with Nikki Ogunnaike" on Apple Podcast and Spotify.
Summer House fans and listeners of the "Giggly Squad" podcast turn to Paige DeSorbo for life and style advice, but the entrepreneur did not always come up with her multihyphenate career. In fact, she once had to turn to herself and follow her intuition to become what it is.
In the latest episode of the Marie Claire podcast, "Nice Talk," the reality TV star/influencer opened up about when she felt powerless and how she grew out of that experience.
Desorbo explained that she was "very scared" when her best friend and "Giggly Squad" podcast co・host Hannah Burner was "fired" from the Bravo TV show about a group of friends in the Hamptons after season 5 of 2021. Her exit came shortly after the two launched the podcast, and rather than listen to naysayers and think exclusively in her best interests, she
"I was caught in crossfire and so scared for the two of us," she shared in a "nice story" of Burner's summer home departure. "Giggly Squad" really took a turn — to become like "no, just buckle up, let's lean on more", then."
Desorbo looked at how overwhelming the fan response was, "when Hannah was fired, perhaps on reality TV, I was like, "Okay, well, I don't really know what to do." It was just very strange and it was all playing out, and everyone watching it ever happened because they can't put everything out on the show
She continued, "Will I be fired"? Is this my career "What do I even do outside of the show that I can keep making money?""So I was very scared.
Desorbo shared that he would ask her at the time if Berner's exit meant she was working with her in the new "Giggly Squad" at the time."She said, "It didn't run through my mind either. I was very surprised when they asked me. I was like, "Yeah, obviously, I'm going to keep doing the Giggle Squad.""That's my friend. That's my real-life friend."I don't care if 200 Jessicas from all over the country can't stand her, that's my friend."
DeSorbo may have thought how much backlash Berner received from Summer House viewers and that continuing the podcast was "not good for her brand,"
"We continued to do it," she said. "I think that was one of the moments when that was my real change and how I was as a person and how I was as a friend," he said.1 I said, no, because the majority of people don't like her, so it seemed like I wasn't going to drop her. Those who care about the majority, I will not meet them. I don't know them. That's not the right thing to do.
Eventually, by trusting themselves and looking for burners, "Giggly Squad" found its audience and it grew into a viral lifestyle phenomenon. Desorbo shared, "Leaning even more strongly on the 'Giggly Squad' because we really felt like ourselves and felt connected to each other
What Bravo's personality learned by stepping into her power as an entrepreneur, her unique career path, and how to make it happen." She talked more about her experience about the "nice stories" available everywhere you listen to podcasts right now.
