From 32 Worst Episodes of "Friends" to date
If you are a longtime sitcom fan, you are likely to have your individual ranking of the best episodes of friends. Many of us have episodes that we love to watch and re-watch, but the episodes that missed the mark (or aged badly) for us also had a whopping 10 seasons of the show about a group of Manhattan Night buddies, so Chandler, Ross, Joey, Ray, and more. Rachel, Monica and Phoebe (Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt Leblanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow) may have some messy storyline and pointless decisions over the years.
Before you get angry that 1 of your favorite episodes are here, or that 1 of your most favorite episodes hasn't been cut, this list is simply episodes that other super fans don't enjoy watching - and nothing bad happens if you still like them. It is not. We promise.
Below you'll find a roundup of the Worst friends episode ever.
It's probably a bit unfair to judge a friend while it was finding its footing—this is common for many shows. But the plot line, in which Phoebe finds a literal thumb on Soda and Monica doesn't like her boyfriend, is a cross between weird and uninteresting..
Half of this episode is sweet and nostalgic, with a gentle farewell to Ross and Monica's grandmother. And the other half of the episode is rumination about Chandler's sexuality and whether he radiates a "gay vibe."."It's not the last time we say it on this list: it didn't age well.
While there's essentially no problem with this part of the episode, it feels like Rachel's silly story doesn't make sense to her character (sleeping with her ex-fiance Barry). In essence, her decision feels like a meandering way to keep her away from L.A. for as long as possible.
This is a very cool premise, and Monica tracks down the woman who stole her credit card and, surprisingly, bonds with the woman. But this is also one of the 1 episodes of Ross and Monkey Marcel, which is one of the weakest subplots the show has ever had.1
Monica is dating a 17-year-old (accidentally.). That's it, that's the whole joke. This, as expected, is severely aging, but it is also a good example of when the a-plot line does not work, and the entire episode does not work even if the B-plot line is normal.
The fans were clearly not fans of how "cramped" the episode was. If you don't remember, Phoebe takes Chandler and Joey to meet their estranged dad, and they spend most of the episode in a taxi. This is redeemed from all the "gifts" they take home from the gas station.
Friends is a far cry from the only show that used mental illness for comedy in the 90s.But framing that illness as a punch line ("Ding dong, the psycho's gone.Even if the guest star Adam Goldberg is so funny, it doesn't look good.
Even if you don't know your friends well, you're probably familiar with what Roth surprises you when his son is playing with Barbie. It's absolutely karma to see him dressed in women's clothes and having a tea party, but we still don't like the premise.
Many fans crack up on the "Ugly Naked Man" and all those related plot lines. The joke feels superficial, and now it's flat - and it's especially altruistic to see the gang try to poke him to see if he's still alive in this episode.
Ross is trying to impress Rachel, attends a fashion seminar with her and falls asleep. Phoebe is bitter about her former partner who wants to sell the "stinky cat" to advertisers. Joey throws the original wooden leg into the fire (.). The whole episode feels like a bad look.
This is as hotly debated as the show — Ross and Rachel were on a break. He was unfaithful. Their argument (which was felt devised based on Ross's anxiety) was valid, but the result is probably something Ross and Rachel fans really hate.
After Rachel discovers that Ross was sleeping with someone else, he claims they are on a break — 2 of them have an all-out fight while the other friends are hiding in the bedroom. It's a long, drawn-out, painful fight and hard to watch (though it may be a good episode).
"How gay in dance still goes."Joey is a line uttered by Monica after agreeing to help their building director learn how to dance for the upcoming ball. This is a brutal summary of how this episode dealt with thoughts (gasps. Two men touch the platonic.
You might remember this, like when Rachel is wearing cheerleading clothes to try to seduce someone. It's also what Rachel's fake party spoils Emily and Ross's last night, and she's incredibly immature for most of the night
Friends is the only sitcom that relies on a "clip" episode (or flashback episode) showing the moments before the series. It was not Com. But fans often felt cheated when they did— even in this case, discussing whether Rachel would attend Ross's wedding to Emily
which features one of the most 90s plot lines the show has ever seen: Rachel is helping her do important things. She feels so easy that she has to smoke because she has a bad, off・the・cuff conversation with her boss.Rachel feels that she has to smoke. It was even split between the characters back then and was even weirder now.
a.k.a."What is just an advertisement for a pottery barn."This refers to unnecessary items (including the pharmacist's table), as it shows how much product placement to use. That's a plus because Phoebe, however, will love and maintain it.
The concept of "putting Monica in a fat suit for a flashback episode" is widely regarded today as a completely offensive punchline. While watching the characters dance awkwardly, it may have been once considered funny, but now it feels heartbreaking. And to add insult to injury, she is also a virgin of this alternative reality.
Sometimes, no explanation is required except for the title. A high school student who Monica accidentally dates, Ross easily dates 1 of his students— except that it's not an accident, and he emanates that it violates the rules
Yet another clip episode. Here, Chandler has not written down an important note for Joey's callback time. And we get a bunch of throwback scenes that remind us all the time that our friends are ruining. So, you know. It happened.
Rachel hires an assistant because he's hot (and deeply unqualified), and then she starts a relationship with him. It is right there by sleeping with a student or someone who is not 18, with the exception of the guy in question, would be a bit deeply annoying on that.
In another example of fat shaming from the show, this episode includes an "alternative reality" in which Joey and Monica gather. Both characters have to wear fat suits, and it's just depressing — especially since the rest of the episode features a bunch of fun, silly pranks between Ross, Ben, and Rachel.
Or rather, "The one Ross tries to kiss his cousin."Yes, I said my cousin was a young Dennis Richards, and it was always fun to watch. Yes, as Ross explains, he has not been with anyone for a long time. But they really couldn't sell the idea at the end of the day. (She could not have been a family friend.
If you're not used to it, Chandler's dad is a Las Vegas drag performer. And the situation leads to bad, insensitive and generally unpleasant jokes. Kathleen Turner, who plays Charles Bing, even says she won't take on the role today.
Wow, this episode aged badly. It's strange enough to see the character of guest star Brad Pitt actively hostile to the character played by his then・wife, knowing that 2 people will divorce in real life. It's even worse if you remember that Will admitted in high school that he started a nasty and insensitive rumor about Rachel being intersex.
This episode is a contrasting exercise. On the other hand, it's very interesting to see Ross trying to cross Manhattan in 10 minutes. On the other hand, this fake date between Joey and Rachel will start us 2 plot lines dating, many fans will argue that it is a mistake.
There's obviously nothing wrong with this episode, but some fans avoid seeing it because the men on the show are just bad examples of relationships, but it's funny Ross is handing out the keys to the apartment because he doesn't have a copy.
Another flashback episode. Conceit is good — Joey needs to nail the interview, he's hard because he's Joey — but it's also a good example of why Joey works best as a side character.Joey knows he's doing his job, he's doing his job. It is at least rewarding for him to nail the interview in the end.
Ross and Rachel hire a male nanny, and "cheerfulness" follows because Ross can't figure out how a straight man wants to take care of a child. Also, Phoebe is cheating on her ex David and Mike (we love you, Hank Azaria, not the character).)- And the love triangle does not really work.
It's pretty hilarious that Ross and Rachel have to wrap Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back" to put their daughter to sleep. But if you recall, this is also an episode where Chandler goes and sees Monica and Richard's sex tape. Now say it: Ew.
Phoebe loves animals: indeed. Phoebe has a pet rat: Okay. Mike accidentally killed them: Frankly, it's disturbing. A side plot about what Joey wants to connect with Ross and Rachel's nanny: Get older at this point. You can tell that the show was running out of ideas a little.
There are some good plot lines here, but especially one that Monica and Chandler think they can't have a child. But it also features David's return, with another diversion from Phoebe, who is finally with Mike, leaning on the bitterness of the other protagonists.
