Bella Hadid's Red Carpet up in Cannes is a peak Prom
Most of the beauty looks from my high school days can stay buried deep in the past. I'll never have to look at the blue hair gel, feather accessories, or hair bobble tub again — I mean it. I thought the emotion applied to my prom hairstyle completed with 97 Bobby pins and about two cans of L 'Oreal Elnet hairspray.
However, Bella Hadid may have revived the tightly curled, fixed and gelled updo from the depths of the 2000s.For the L'Amour Ouf premiere on Thursday, May 23, the founder of Erebella was a walking definition of prom-core aesthetics. And I think I will...Dare say that is in it?
Hadid smoothed her hair with what I imagine to be a headache-inducing bun, not partial, but completely free of even one singular flight. Her hair appears to be complemented by quite a few hair extensions, but is styled with large barrel curls, twisted into a bun and accented with some loose spirals. The look of the throwback was courtesy of hairstylist Bryce Scarlett.
The model (thankfully) skipped thin brows and matte lipstick for the red carpet, but her glam had a subtle nod to the prom culture of the 2000s, courtesy of make-up artist Nadia Tayeh. I can present: heavy contours, orange cut wrinkles eye shadow, and brown lip gloss. Do not misunderstand me, her makeup has a modern twist. Still, the colors and technology are reminiscent of past eras.
Recreating this look (hair, makeup, and all fixtures) is actually quite easy. For hair, look at tiktok's messy dumpling trend and find a simple how-to.
Tie the hair with care-free dumplings — Messier good - leave 2 front pieces. Then curl the front piece and fasten it to the pan with a bobby pin. All you need for makeup is an orange palette, which will soon be ready for Prom 2024 (or the red carpet of Cannes).
