Before Aidan told Carrie she needed to go back to Virginia, she had promised to leave her home on the Upper East Side for decades for him because she felt he couldn't get into the space again given their history there. He stepped into the space to tell her he needed to go back to Virgina, but Carrie decided to hold onto the space, so her big gesture seems as if she doesn't want to ruin their partnership this time. Of course, distance can change that.

In fact, it seems very likely that a little rocky is on the horizon for the love birds.
