Fallout" Season 2: Everything We Know

[Whereas The Last of Us was fungal zombies and buckets of tears, Prime Video's new film is radioactive zombies and mass body horror. It takes place in the distant future, two centuries after a nuclear holocaust destroyed modern civilization (hence the vintage needle drop). There are countless different factions in the wasteland that was once Los Angeles, but the show focuses on three main characters: Lucy McClane (Ella Purnell from Yellow Jackets), who grew up in an underground vault and ventured above ground to save her kidnapped father (played by Kyle MacLachlan); the youngest of the three, the youngest of the three, the youngest of the three, the youngest of the three, the youngest of the three, the youngest of the three, the youngest of the three, There are two other characters in the film who are also part of the "Brotherhood of Steel": the mech-suited cop cult "Brotherhood of Steel" squire Maximus (Aaron Morten), and the immortal bounty hunter Ghoul (Walton Goggins), who was alive even before the bombs were dropped.

The new series delighted both gamers and TV fans, drawing viewers into a dystopian and intricately plotted story. (Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy of "Westworld" are executive producers, and the two shows are not dissimilar in atmosphere.) The series has received a huge response, and Amazon has already released an official update on the show's future; to see everything we know about "Fallout" Season 2, read on.

That's right. Amazon announced the renewal of Fallout for Season 2 just one week after the show's premiere on April 10, 2024. According to streamers, the new show ranked in the top three most-watched titles in Prime Video history just four days after its debut, making it the most-watched series since the Lord of the Rings reboot, Rings of Power.

Season 2's premiere date will likely depend on Prime Video's rapid production of its latest hit, but either way, fans will have to wait a while. Filming for the first season began in mid-2022, and episodes did not arrive until April 2024, over a year and a half later. Given this timeline, one would expect "Fallout" to return before the end of 2025.

Season 1 of "Fallout" ended with two major cliffhangers. First, a heartbroken Lucy learned that her father Hank (MacLachlan) was secretly part of the conspiracy behind the vaults. It is revealed that Hank was an employee of Vault Tech before the bombs were dropped. To ensure the success of their business model, Vault Tech started the war by dropping the nuclear bombs themselves and monopolizing the industry. (This detail is original to the show and ended decades of controversy among video game fans about who started the apocalypse.)

The story is also the first to be published in a book, "The Vault Tech Story.

If causing Armageddon wasn't bad enough, Vault Tech plotted to use the Vault as a sadistic social experiment, setting up a system to test which Vault would be the ultimate society. Lucy's vault 33 is connected to two other vaults, and her brother Norm (Moises Arias) discovers that vault 31 is full of the frozen brains of Vault Tech workers. They have been preserved since before the war, and once they awaken, they are often chosen to supervise other vaults. Their mission also extends to making sure that civilization resumes on the surface and their monopoly is not taken away. Hank goes to extremes to fulfill this role, including destroying the surface community of Shady Sands (in the process, Lucy's mother takes her children to live there, where they are exposed to radiation).

In the final battle to capture the MacGuffin (which turns out to be the key to unlimited power through cold fusion) that everyone has been searching for all season, Hank escapes and Maximus is knocked out. The ghouls offer Lucy two choices: stay behind and be killed by the Brotherhood, or join them in tracking down Hank.

She decides to go with him and sets up season two with a road trip plotline as they set out to track him down. The last scene also hints at Hank's destination for at least a few episodes: New Vegas, the town that was the subject of the popular "Fallout" game. Basically, expect more interesting characters and more bloodshed.

In an interview with GQ, showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson Dworet teased some of the stories they will explore in season two.

"What exactly her exact motivations are is something I'm really looking forward to exploring more in Season 2, but I wouldn't underestimate Lucy's curiosity as something that drives her deep down," Robertson-Dworet told the outlet. 'Just as she set out to find her father in the pilot, she wants to know what's behind the door. Likewise, throughout the season, she learned that everything she thought about the world in her vault was wrong. I want to understand, I want to leave the cave again,'' she said. ' In a way, it's like a pilot and a mirror."
