Zendaya's "Challengers" custom-made stilettos have tennis balls for heels

At the Challengers' Global Press Tour, Zendaya pulled off a look so eye-catching it would make her an honorary star of the tennis world. Today, she took on-court fashion to new heights with a sparkling custom-made dress and surreal shoes. Specifically, stilettos with tennis balls where heels should be.

On Monday, April 8, the 27-year-old was photographed at a film photocall held at the Hotel Hassler in Rome, Italy. With a view of the quaint city, the actress glamorously dressed in a classic tennis uniform custom designed by Loewe. The sparkling silver and black mini dress had a V-shaped neckline, a subtle drop waist, and a pleated skirt that hugged her thighs.

She enlisted trusted stylist Lo Roach, who paired the sparkling ensemble with diamond-studded Bulgari accessories. As a final touch, the actress's signature tennis motif was reasserted with Loewe's custom-made white heels. But these were no ordinary stilettos: it was as if Zendaya had speared each sharp heel with a ball before walking the red carpet.

Zendaya minimized her glamour by rocking a natural dewy beat. She also swept her freshly dyed honey blonde hair back into a half updo.

Shortly after the step-and-repeat, Roach posted a behind-the-scenes Instagram reel of the Challengers star from her hotel, captioning it "Tennis but in FASHION... " he wrote.

The magic of Roach and Z's collaboration is not just her ability to look absolutely stunning on the red carpet. Since the Dune days, the two have always put their own spin on the concept of "method dressing." Polo shirts and pleated skirts naturally come to mind when thinking of the Challengers' Grand Slam storyline, but the two have definitely redefined what tennis fashion is all about.

Zendaya showed the look that was most well received by Challengers in Paris prior to Rome.

On April 6, Euphoria star Zendaya was spotted wearing a custom Louis Vuitton gown. The outfit was a reference to the all-white outfits often worn by tennis players at prestigious tournaments such as Wimbledon.

Zendaya wore two more Louis Vuitton outfits that day. First, she appeared that day in a mod-inspired checkerboard mini-dress by Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

She then changed into a chartreuse corset from Jacobs' Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 1999 line, consisting of a silky shirt and matching pants.

With only a few days left on the Challengers' press tour, it is certain that Roach and Z have more in store for their fans. The only question is how else they can interpret tennis fashion.
