Zendaya goes from tennis star to girl-next-door with Vivienne Westwood set and bangs
Zendaya is sporting an avant-tennis look for the premiere of "Challengers. Yesterday, she walked the red carpet in central London in what looked like a cross between a Thom Browne custom country club athletic dress and a black-tie gala gown. And today, April 11, she was literally a big hit at a photo call in the UK.
The actress moved away from the high-glamour, crisp whites, sparkles, and tennis pleats that fans have come to expect from the press tour looks styled by Lo Roach, and opted for a femme-prep-meets-circus coquette vibe and a slicked-back bangs.
Once again styled by Roach, Zendaya wore a Vivienne Westwood striped cotton tailored vest circa Spring/Summer 1994 set with a feathered bustle mini skirt. (And more surprising than the white fluff attached to the back of her shorts was her blunt blonde bangs.
The fresh hairstyle was done by celebrity hairstylist Ursula Steven, who styled Zendaya's hair for all her interviews in the UK and Europe.
Zendaya completed her business in front and party in the back outfit with a pair of stark white Christian Louboutin pinwheels, which she had worn with all of her pre-Challengers outfits.
Instead of her usual full lamé and dark eyes, Zendaya's makeup was softer, with pale pink lips and subtle peachy cheeks, more like the girl next door than a tough tennis coach.
This was Zendaya's first archival look of the tour. In previous carpet and photocalls, she had worn new, custom-made pieces. From Loewe, she wore a surrealist dress printed with tennis player silhouettes, tennis ball heels, and a mini dress with sparkling silver and black pleats. She also wore an angelic custom-made Louis Vuitton white gown and a custom-made Calvin Klein skirt suit.
"She's another being that came into me, my own Sasha Fierce," Zendaya told Vogue magazine of her red carpet fashion alter ego. 'She gets into me and runs the carpet.'
