Kendall Jenner puts a minimalist spin on festival attire

Kendall Jenner is pushing her red-colored trend agenda ahead of festival season.

To toast the first weekend of Coachella, the supermodel hosted a welcome reception in Palm Springs on April 11 to launch the three-day event and her new edit for online retailer FWRD.

Jenner, creative director of FWRD, hit the red carpet in a burgundy maxi dress by Tove. The brand's sleeveless, form-fitting dress featured a slight scoop neck and halter bodice.

She paired the dark cherry gown with a similarly colored wristlet from The Row (now sold out) and black strappy heels, also from the Olsen family's twin luxury label.

Jenner kept her glamour simple, wearing her brunette hair behind her shoulders along with a glossy nude lip and rosy pink cheeks.

The Kardashian star is undeniably a minimalist enthusiast, and this year she seems to have opted for her signature low-key look instead of the usual festival uniform of feathers, crochet, and micro-minis. But no matter the occasion, she always finds a way to add a twist to her aesthetic. One example: her choice of red-hot colors.

Jenner's look at the FWRD event may be too formal for a weekend spent dancing in the desert, but the supermodel is on to something when it comes to rich color schemes.

Red is the biggest color trend of 2024 and has been kicked into full gear over the past few seasons by brands like Ferragamo, Gucci, and Tibi. The vibrant color has been adopted in every shade from fiery red to maroon and worn by A-listers from Hailey Bieber to Gwyneth Paltrow to Suki Waterhouse.

It has also become a major color trend in the beauty department, with stars like Dua Lipa and Megan Fox turning dark locks into a bold cherry statement.

Perhaps Jenner chose red for the occasion. Or perhaps, being the trendsetter that she is, she will launch a campaign to push more red throughout the festival season. If so, here's the first I heard of it.
