Jennifer Lopez enjoys athleisure in $1,200 Prada sneakers

J.Lo is the queen of high-low. I have seen her wearing platform Uggs while carrying a Birkin. She's paired her fur coat with a baseball cap. And yesterday, Jennifer Lopez ran rainy day errands in two athleisure outfits and designer shoes.

She walked the streets (or "blocks") of New York City on April Fool's Day wearing a gray cropped windbreaker over a black turtleneck, basic black leggings, and chunky sneakers provided by Prada. Wearing crisp white sneakers in a downpour is a bold move, but there's nothing Lopez can't do. She covered her face with oversized Dsquared sunglasses and accessorized with classic gold hoop earrings.

Prada's "Cloudbusting Thunder" sneakers sell "technical materials." Lopez was on a mission, hair tied back and umbrella in hand.

When the sun came out later that day, she was spotted leaving the house in a matching light gray sweat suit, the same Prada sneakers and Dsquared shades.

That rough-hewn spirit has been a perpetual theme for Lopez, and even more so this year. A clip from her new documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, in which she discusses her Bronx roots, has gone viral in recent weeks. 'This is how I like to pull my hair out. It reminds me of when I was 16 in the Bronx. She says this in the snip." The crazy girl was wild, unrestricted, and full of dreams."

Quiet extravagance may (still) have its moments, but J.Lo didn't mind the trend. An actress-turned-singer-turned-musical-filmmaker, J.Lo has always had a penchant for flashy outfits, whether pairing a baggy sweatshirt with an $80,000 purse or mink with high-top sneakers. Pairing carefree leggings with $1,200 sneakers is no different in her style file.
